Veron remains at Estudiantes for now (25 Jul 2007 05:11 GMT)

Juan Sebastian Veron rejected an offer to join DC United of the MLS and will remain at Estudiantes de La Plata for another season. But the talented midfielder has hinted a possible move to the club in the near future.

Kevin Payne, the president of DC United, travelled to Argentina for talks with the player, but they did not come to a final agreement.

According to reports Payne offered Veron almost 15 million euros, which would include his contract and his image rights.

Veron, who led Estudiantes to the Apertura title six months ago, seemed interested with the possibility to move to the MLS in the future.

"Today my answer is no. But in a few months, maybe in December, who knows?", Veron said in broken English.

The former Inter Milan, Lazio, Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder has received seven different offers from foreign clubs, but has stayed loyal to Estudiantes.

Despite this the reunion with DC United was the first time he has sat down to discuss his future, and according to sources close to the player he will join the MLS club next season.

Veron has told the Argentine press he will stay at Estudiantes to take part in next year's Copa Libertadores, but could change his decision because of his fury with the club directors, who have sold three of their key players in recent weeks and have yet to find replacements.

The Argentine playmaker has proven he still has a lot to offer, after helping Argentina reach the final of the Copa America earlier in the month.
