Peru coach not frightened by Argentina (8 Jul 2007 09:45 GMT)
Peru coach Julio Cesar Uribe says he is not afraid of Copa America quarter-final opponents Argentina and his team will put up a fight.
"I'm sure we're going to have a great game," Uribe told reporters. "We're going to respect Argentina and their capabilities but we're also going to try and impose our style. Football doesn't have any secrets and we shouldn't be scared of anybody."
Peru have last their lost six meetings against Argentina. Their last win was in a Copa America quarter-final in Bolivia 10 years ago.
Uribe's team, notoriously inconsistent, began the tournament well with a 3-0 win over Uruguay, then lost 2-0 to Venezuela and struggled into the last eight with a 2-2 draw against Bolivia.
"Argentina is one of the top teams in the world today. They have the capabilities of Riquelme, Veron, Milito, Mascherano, but we also have our strengths."
"When two teams know each other this well, you need to have something up your sleeve to make the difference, you have to be intelligent and practical," he added.
