Argentina soccer team to play Norway, Australia (24 Feb 2007 06:11 GMT)

Argentina's national soccer team will play friendly games against Australia, on June 6 in Melbourne, and Norway, on Aug. 22 in Oslo, the Argentine Football Association said in a Thursday statement.

The national team has had a mixed record recently, under the management of Alfio Basile: in British capital London, Argentina lost 0-3 to Brazil, in Spanish city Murcia Argentine lost 1-2 to Spain and in French capital Paris, Argentina beat France 1-0.

The team has a much better record against Australia, winning four games, drawing one and losing one. The Australia match will be at the 95,000-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground, an icon of that nation's sport in Yarra Park.

Argentina and Norway have only played one match, which ended with a 1-0 Nordic victory on April 30, 1986, also in Oslo.
