Basile delighted with Argentina (9 Feb 2007 05:41 GMT)
Argentina coach Alfio Basile has praised the attitude of his team following their 1-0 win over France in Paris on Wednesday.
Javier Saviola scored the only goal as the South Americans ended a run of two defeats in their last two international outings, against Brazil and Spain respectively.
"I liked the attitude and the concentration levels we showed, as well as the fact that France did not create too many goalscoring opportunities," said Basile. "France are a very important team in the world. When Argentinian players put up such a performance, they can play against anybody and anywhere."
"This time, the score accompanied us, something that did not happen in the past two friendlies," he said.
Despite his admiration for the performance, Basile noted that there was still some room for improvement.
"However, I think we have to improve the control of the ball and occupy empty spaces on the field. Unfortunately, if we train only twice before each friendly, we will not achieve that very soon. But we definitely have the quality," Basile ended.
