Heinze assured of Manchester United future (20 Jan 2007 05:14 GMT)
Sir Alex Ferguson has told Gabriel Heinze he has a future at Manchester United Football Club.
The Argentine international has been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and former club Paris St Germain this month, as reports claimed he was entering the final six months of his contract.
However, Ferguson has moved to reveal he still has another two-and-a-half seasons remaining on his deal, and the player still has a role to play at Old Trafford despite losing his place in the team this term.
"One paper said his contract finishes in June. That's wrong, it ends in 2009," said Ferguson. "When I read that I immediately went diving for my file. I was sure that wasn't right. We don't allow these things to happen."
When asked if Heinze still had a future at United, the Scot replied: "Absolutely, of course."
