Veron confirms Inter exit (27 Dec 2005 18:24 GMT)
Inter Milan midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has confirmed that in June 2006 he will quit Italian soccer and will make a return to his native Argentina.
Veron comments on his decision:
"I am sick and tired of already having gone ten years around Europe like a gypsy. I have been far from my house and from my family now for a long time, and I have lost a lot of time that I could have spent with them. I don't want to keep losing time and I will like to be with them while they are alive."
"My house is Argentina and there is where I want to return, although in Milan and in Inter I feel very good. I am happy to be here and I will like to do so until June, when I leave with an important achievement, something that we all deserve", he added.
Veron (30) knows that a return to Argentine soccer will mean that he will be earning much less money than at Inter, but he states:
"An achievement or a money offer will not make me change my mind, although the thought of it makes me happy. I want to say that I am working well and I will leave behind good memories, although I haven?t been at Inter for long. It's a shame because destiny made me come here three seasons too late. I should have arrived earlier, but because of a series of circumstances I went to play in London and in Manchester".
Reports suggest that Veron will move to Argentine club River Plate, preferring them to former club and arch-rivals Boca Juniors.
