Ortega gets alcohol treatment (6 Oct 2006 22:08 GMT)
Former Argentina international Ariel Ortega, who played in three World Cups for his country, is undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction.
The River Plate star told Ole that he is ashamed by his difficulties but is grateful to coach Daniel Passarella for his support.
After failing to reappear in training after the 1-1 draw with Belgrano, the 32-year-old is determined to get his career back on track.
"I am living a delicate moment," he stated. "It's a personal problem. I'm ashamed to talk of it. I want to enjoy life with my children."
After representing the likes of Valencia, Parma and Sampdoria, he endured a difficult spell with Fenerbahce in Turkey.
Passarella is standing by Ortega even though he will miss the derby with Boca Juniors.
