Saviola included in FC Barcelona squad (24 Sep 2006 12:04 GMT)
FC Barcelona included Argentina forward Javier Saviola in its squad for a league game Saturday for the first time since 2004.
Saviola, who spent the past two seasons on loan with Monaco and Sevilla, replaced injured forward Santi Ezquerro in an 18-man squad for Sunday's clash with Valencia.
The 24-year-old joined Barcelona from River Plate in 2001 and scored 61 goals in his first three seasons. He missed out on the club's league title successes the last two seasons and its Champions League triumph in May.
Saviola was expected to leave Barcelona in the offseason but chose to remain despite being warned he had little chance of making the first team. He has a year remaining on his contract.
