Maxi signs 2-year contract extension (24 Aug 2006 02:57 GMT)
Argentina midfielder Maxi Rodríguez has signed a two-year contract extension with Club Atlético de Madrid, committing to the Spanish side until 2010.
The 25-year-old moved to the Vicente Calderón from RCD Espanyol on a three-year deal last summer and quickly established himself, scoring ten goals in 29 Primera División appearances as Atlético finished tenth. He further underlined his talent at the World Cup in Germany. Maxi was ever-present for Argentina, registering three goals in five games as they reached the quarter-finals, including a memorable strike against Mexico in the last 16.
