Group C is the toughest according to FIFAworldcup.com users (13 Dec 2005 22:19 GMT)
Group C promises to be the toughest first-round group at the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany according to FIFAworldcup.com users.
Following Friday's Final Draw in Leipzig FIFAworldcup.com asked which of the eight sections was the hardest and by 5pm on Monday, the results of the poll spoke for themselves: of the 134 223 users who voted, 68 757 (51%) saw Group C (Argentina, Ivory Coast, Serbia and Montenegro and the Netherlands) as the toughest. Next in line, though some way behind, was Group E (Italy, Ghana, United States and Czech Republic), which garnered 23% of the votes (30 554).
Groups C and E were the only groups to attract more than 10% of the vote, although Group F (Brazil, Croatia, Australia and Japan) was not far off with 9%. Voters here must have been basing their decision on the uncertainty surrounding second spot in the group.
The 10 272 French-speaking voters were categorical, with 70% of them choosing Group C, while for the English speakers, of which there were 82 000, the issue was less clear-cut, with 45% of them seeing Group C as the toughest, 28% opting for Group E and 10% for Group F. The 11 500 German-speaking voters fell somewhere in between, with 55% going for Group C and 20% for Group E. Spanish speakers naturally saw Group C as by far and away the toughest, with 66% of them voting thus.
