Soccer great Diego Maradona displayed some of his former style Wednesday when he took to the field with Argentine team Universidad Catolica in a friendly match against Chile's national team.
The former Argentina captain played 40 minutes in Universidad's 2-0 loss to Chile, organized by Chile's soccer players union, but the fans' cheers were reserved for Maradona.
The 12,000-strong crowd chanted "Diegoo!, Diegoo!" tirelessly as Maradona performed precise passes, skilled dribbling and even some tough marks.
After the match, Maradona said he was delighted to be playing again and "felt great" on the field.
He repeated his belief that "Brazil is the clear favorite to win the World Cup" in June at Germany. "But Argentina also has some chances," he added.
