Barcelona's Argentinian striker Lionel Messi will be out for 10 days with a pulled muscle in his right leg sustained in his club's shock 3-1 loss to Atletico Madrid over the weekend.
"Messi will miss Sunday's match against Valencia because of a pulled muscle in his right leg," the La Liga leaders said on their official website, www.fcbarcelona.com.
"The Argentinian player will be out for 10 days because of these muscular problems," it added.
Messi, 18, was replaced at half-time during Barcelona's loss to Atletico on Sunday.
He has scored five goals in the Spanish league this season, the same number as Frenchman Ludovic Giuly, the player with whom he is most in competition for a place in the Barca starting line-up.
